You changed my daughter’s life, she was really struggling.

Emotion Switch completely changed her thinking and her confidence has really improved.

Teacher & Parent of daughter Age 11, Scarborough [28 Day Bite Size Challenge]

Dear Parent,

If you've ever experienced that feeling of guilt when you drop them off at school in a morning... don’t worry you are not alone.

With so many possible causes (friendships, bullying, confidence, focus, pressures, tests and so much more)... it’s difficult to know what to do for the best.

LIFE shouldn't have to get so hard for them - before we act.

Until now Emotion Switch has only ever been available for schools - but that's about to change very soon.

With children's confidence, self-esteem and resilience at an all time low. Plus anxiety, anger and behavioural challenges affecting them at an increasingly younger age - we believe...

BUT… What if there was ONE powerfully simple solution?

One that equipped your child with the tools to navigate life’s inevitable challenges and develop transformational habits to rapidly enhance the way they think, feel and respond to life (?).

This is exactly what we thought 5 years ago.

We couldn’t understand why this wasn’t already ‘a thing’.

Fast forward to 2024, our Emotion and Success Coaching has reached over 6,300 children aged 6 to 16+.

However, with schools struggling to access the vital resources needed to nurture your child’s academic success, as well as their health, happiness and wellbeing... that’s where we come in…

WHAT TO EXPECT FOR EVERY CHILD...

As our programs are designed for schools, we understand it's absolutely essential the outcomes provided are measurable and sustainable.

We're also committed to ensuring the delivery is both effective and ALL outcomes achievable for every child who participates - regardless of their current abilities, existing circumstances (home/personal life). Or any pre/diagnosed behavioural challenges/conditions (such ADHD).

LEARNER ENGAGEMENT

By addressing the key influencers of a pupils attitude and behaviour (their EMOTIONS), you can expect to see measurable changes in focus, self-motivation, attention and a desire to learn.

EMOTIONAL WELLBEING

Every pupil will have the understanding and awareness of how their emotions are generated.  Along with the belief and tools to assess, articulate and self-regulate how they're feeling.

EDUCATIONAL ATTAINMENT

The underlying theme of our programs are to help children raise their own aspirations, break free of personal limitations and excel beyond that which they previously believed possible.

BEHAVIOUR
INTERVENTIONS

Behaviour Interventions seek to improve attainment by reducing challenging behaviour.  From low-level disruption and aggression. To violence, bullying, substance abuse and anti-social activities.

METACOGNITIION &
SELF-REGULATION

Metacognition and self-regulation approaches aim to help pupils think about their learning.  By teaching strategies for planning, monitoring and evaluation to give pupils a selection of strategies/skills to choose.

SOCIAL & EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL)

Interventions which target SEL seek to improve pupils’ interaction with others and self-management of emotions.  SEL interventions might focus on ways in which students work with/alongside peers, teachers, family or community.

WHAT TO EXPECT

IMPROVING LEARNER OUTCOMES...

Emotion Switch School programs cover numerous entries detailed in the Education Endowment Foundation 'Teaching & Learning Toolkit'.

Including Aspiration Interventions, Feedback and Mentoring.  However, there are 3 key areas the program has proven to be consistently successful with pupils aged 7 - 16.

We understand when it comes to education that 'METRICS' really do 'MATTER'...

They help us to measure the improvement in the lives of those we teach.

They also help us to improve how we teach, so that every child is given the opportunity to succeed... IN EVERY ARENA OF LIFE!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the program safe for vulnerable children and young adults?

YES.  The program is 100% safe regardless of the students background or personal history.

Unlike 'traditional methods', the 'EMOTION SWITCH' solely focuses on helping the learner to manage their emotions without having to regress or uncover/discuss past experiences that can often lead to further trauma and prolonged suffering.

How is the safeguarding of children managed?

The safeguarding of children's emotional and physical wellbeing is absolutely paramount.  This also includes keeping children safe 'ONLINE', data protection and GDPR.

We have our own measures already in place to ensure that children's safety (and privacy) is the number one priority both during and after the program.  These include every member of the 'Emotion Switch' team having a current and up to date 'Enhanced DBS Certificate'.  As well as understanding and adhering to our Safeguarding, Data Protection and Health & Safety Policies.

In addition, we also treat every school/organisation as an individual entity.  By this, we mean that we also work closely with them to understand, adopt and adhere to their policies (including any special requirements).

Will it help to unlock a child's potential and improve motivation?

Absolutely YES.  The principles within the program have helped children as young as 7 to become significantly more focused and productive at home and school (even with tasks/subjects they previously disliked doing).

The reason the program is so powerful is because it directly addresses the route cause of our actions.  In essence, everything we do in life, we either do it because we 'feel we HAVE TO' or 'feel we WANT TO'.

The program teaches children to look for (and find) the gift in every experience, regardless of their nature/preferences.  As a result - freeing them of the limitations often caused by existing circumstances and/or environment.

How is the program so effective, yet so simple even for young children?

We get asked this question all the time.  The truth is, the program wouldn't work if it was complex.

In almost every instance, teachers and parents who have witnessed the transformation, have been amazed at just how simple the teachings of the program are.  As well as how even 'they' have picked up some of the simple tools by merely witnessing the sessions in progress.

So why is this?  It's because the quality of our whole lives are determined by our emotions.  However, our emotions are not tangible, and they are also just the output.  In other words, our emotions are simply our reaction to what we're focusing on/the meaning we give to a particular circumstance/experience.

The 'Emotion Switch' educates children (and adults) by teaching them to understand the tangible cause of their emotions.  As well as developing the habit of always knowing they have both the power and ability to choose how they want to feel.

In essence, they learn how to influence the 'OUTPUT', by learning to influence the 'INPUT'.

Is the program also available and effective for adults?

YES.  The program was initially designed for adults. And has been successfully used to help those enduring extreme adversity, anxiety and depression - to experience an almost instantaneous improvement in both their Emotional and Physical wellbeing.

The key principles in the program have been used to rapidly transform the health and wellbeing of teenagers and adults that had previously endured months (often years) of suffering.  Many of whom had already tried traditional approaches such as counselling and/or anti-depressants.

Will Emotion Switch prevent children/teenagers feeling helpless in later life?

This is a very significant issue that often goes unaddressed until it's TOO LATE.

The number of young teenagers and adults experiencing extreme levels of hopelessness, which can quickly escalate to feeling 'helpless' has dramatically been on the rise.  It's at this point that the potential for self harm, which can then lead to 'suicidal thoughts' and even worse 'suicidal attempts' occur.  And often without any warning or signs.

We need to understand that 'our thoughts are our reality'.  In other words - we can all relate to times in our life when we didn't think, or genuinely believed something wouldn't work, even if we had no real evidence to suggest it wouldn't.  And in many cases, there was probably an abundance of evidence to suggest what we wanted to happen - was possible, as we'd seen others do/have or achieve it before.  But, regardless of this - we didn't believe it was possible or would ever happen 'for us'.

Our 'internal belief system' convinced us to feel there was no point even trying.  And so, if we had no hope or felt helpless - of course, why would we even try.

In essence, it's at this stage that teenagers and young adults won't even try to ask for help because they have no hope that life could possibly be any different.

So how does 'Emotion Switch' help prevent this.  And do so without directly discussing or talking about such sensitive matters with young children?

Firstly, we do not believe that educating young children or even discussing these kind of topics is appropriate.

To be honest, we're not even keen on the term 'Mental Health', to which recent government research has begun to recognise this terminology isn't helping the situation.  We prefer 'emotional wellbeing'.

In essence, a huge part of our work is raising awareness of how the 'words we use' are the 'words we feel'. Just like if we constantly said 'I feel stressed' all day long, we would by default 'feel more stressed'.

This is how we're able to handle such sensitive topics with young children, without directly discussing issues such as self harm, depression, suicide etc.

The way we do this is by gently discussing relatable examples where the children may have at one time felt a little stuck.  Perhaps they couldn't do something, or they had thoughts that didn't make them feel too good.

We then ask the children:

- What could you have done differently?
- Is there anyone who could have helped you?
- How long would it have taken you to get help?

In every instance, the children instantly realise that no matter what happens, no matter what we're going through - there is always someone who can help us.  They also develop the inner resources to realise that whilst we may not always feel we have a CHOICE, we do always have OPTIONS.  And in many cases, getting help or making progress to move away from feeling stuck - can be achieved in a matter of seconds or minutes.

Educating children on simple, non intrusive strategies like these at such a young age - means that they develop the habit of tapping into an infinite pool of inner resourcefulness, so that as they embark on new journeys through life (secondary school, college, career etc) - they're naturally searching for 'solutions' rather than focusing on 'problems'.

This by default, has the potential to dramatically reduce the risk and rise of some of the most devastating consequences associated with emotional wellbeing deficiencies.

True prevention is not waiting for bad things to happen, it's preventing things from happening in the first place.
