It helped me see how my grades will unlock so many doors in the future.

Even if I don't think I need them now, I do not want to have to do resits with 16-year olds when I'm older.

MEASURING SUCCESS FOR

Students and the School

We understand a school's most limited resource—is time.

This is why we're a little obsessed (in a good way) with finding the most efficient way to not only generate, but also 'measure' results.

To achieve this, we gave students three months to implement what they learned—before giving them with a QR code to access a digital survey they could complete in their own time...

No more rounding up students or struggling to book the IT lab!

Stephen and Taleen's Success Blueprint is more than just inspiration and motivation.

At a time when so many feel the pressures of exams and uncertain which direction to take—it gives students actionable strategies and the self belief to take charge of their future and connect education with their aspirations.

How Does This One Hour Workshop Support Schools In Enhancing Student Outcomes?

It's no secret that telling students they need to revise and make the most of this critical phase in their lives can be a little frustrating—to say the least.

It's often met with an eye roll (if you’re lucky) or blank stare that makes you feel like you’re speaking a foreign language.

Cue the inevitable school reunion conversation ten years from now, you can already hear them say:

“If only I’d listened more in school...”

But giving up on them isn’t an option, as a teacher you do all you can to set them up for success:

  • After-school revision sessions,
  • Motivational Assemblies,
  • Career Mentors,
  • Daily encouragement…

And yet, it still feels like something's missinga way to bridge the gap between what they know they should do, and actually doing it.

The Aspirations Myth

CUSTOM JAVASCRIPT / HTML

Low aspirations and resilience are often blamed for students lack of motivation to revise and falling short of their academic potential.

Our work in secondary schools and further education settings reveals this isn't quite the full story.

We've found even the most disengaged students, from disadvantaged backgrounds have incredibly high aspirations for their future.

YOUNG PEOPLE'S

Greatest Barrier

Having coached over 7,000 children aged 6 to 16+, we've learned the greatest barrier to their personal and academic success is not determined by where they live, natural talents, academic ability... it's not even their aspirations.

It's that by Year 11, as many as:

1 in 2

No longer believe
their aspirations are possible
for them to achieve

6 in 10

Feel they have no control over at least one area of their life (i.e. future, anger, anxiety, mental health, etc)

8 in 10

Admit to being put off pursuing goals or a career choice because a family member was unsupportive and didn’t believe in them

Source: Analysis from Success Blueprint responses of over 2,800 young people (Years 7-11) across secondary schools in North Yorkshire, Redcar, and Humberside.

THE REAL CHALLENGE

No Belief = No Action

In the lead-up to their GCSEs, many students report feeling stressed and anxious.

Yet, due to this lack of self-belief— take no action and settle for uninspiring goals based on what they believe is possible, rather than what they're truly capable of.

Without intervention, this not only impacts their education, it can also become a recurring theme that limits their opportunities and potential their whole lives.

We're on a mission to change this... we'd love your school to join us!

When I was little, I always wanted to be a Marine Biologist.

As I got older, I thought I could never do that. But now I realise that is what I really want to do—and I know I can do it.

Frequently Asked Questions

 Who is Emotion Switch?

We’re a Yorkshire-based Primary and Secondary Education organisation, committed to the personal and academic success of children and young people.

Our school workshops, programmes, and CPD are designed to strengthen the key metrics that matter most—academic performance, attitudes to learning, behaviour, and attendance.

Whether you’re looking for a targeted group, class, or whole-school approach, we work with you to optimise time, reduce school spending, and enhance the learning environment for all.

If we're already investing in study skills interventions, do we still need the Year 11 Success Blueprint?

Study skills interventions play a valuable role in helping students revise more effectively. But even the best strategies fall short if students don’t believe they’re capable of achieving their aspirations, can’t see how their grades connect to their future, or don’t understand the payoff.

That’s where the Year 11 Success Blueprint Experience comes in.

Belief and perspective are the foundation of academic success—it’s this foundation that makes other interventions even more impactful.

When is the best time to run the Year 11 Success Blueprint workshop?

To reduce time out of lessons, we’ve found a large group format (90+ students) delivered straight after mock exams through to the final week before GCSEs is the optimal window for impact.

It’s at this point we can harness the urgency to increase focus—when disengaged students can't quite see how their grades fit into their future (yet), and high-achievers may be feeling overwhelmed, at risk of burnout.

Is Emotion Switch more suited to disengaged, or high-achieving students?

It is highly recommend for both.

Why? Emotion Switch is an inclusive, class-based approach that leverages the benefits of peer learning and is most effective when centred around a specific, relatable theme—such as GCSEs.

This ensures every student, regardless of academic ability or performance level—gains a personal edge by meeting them where they are.

For high achievers—students discover simple, practical strategies to develop a healthy level of control and reduce burnout—equipping them with the clarity and tools to sustain high performance without feeling overwhelmed.

For disengaged learners—who feel their choices are limited by where they live, how they're doing at school, home life, or other barriers—the workshop provides a safe space to explore what they really want to become or achieve. Helping them re-channel their energy, re-engage in learning, and spark the change needed to overcome self-imposed and socio-economic barriers.

How does Emotion Switch compare to other school solutions?

External interventions can drain schools’ most valuable resources (time and funding)—as they typically address the symptoms of deeper challenges rather than the root cause.

In addition, a common frustration shared by teachers and students is that they often struggle to relate to the concepts, apply the learning, or see any tangible results.

This often leads to the need for multiple interventions, increased costs, and minimal long-term impact.

Emotion Switch is different, as we always focus on addressing the root causes of students’ actions and behaviour to support student outcomes and overcome the most common educational challenges:

- Academic resilience and performance
- Attendance and persistent absenteeism
- Disruptive attitudes and behaviour

Founded on 20 years of neuroscience research and positive psychology, our coaching framework is built on simple, actionable strategies and tools—straightforward enough for children as young as 6 to use, yet proven effective to help young people realise their potential and achieve beyond what they ever thought possible.
